GrandTapz(TM) Pair Of Euro Style Hot and Cold Basin Taps (Aero 2) : The excellent style makes me want to lift the hand levers

The excellent style makes me want to lift the hand levers. The excellent style makes me want to lift the hand levers rather than turn them but that’s just me needing to get used to them.

Good as expected, what a good idea to supply extra valves should there be ant trouble, knowing that the valve will fit the tap rather than hoping down the plumbing shop as previously experienced.

Solidly built but hot tap turns slightly. Solidly built but hot tap turns slightly beyond the closed position to ‘off’ and forms a slight drip. Here are the specifications for the GrandTapz(TM) Pair Of Euro Style Hot and Cold Basin Taps (Aero 2):

  • Includes Replacement Cartridges Worth Ā£9.99
  • Fits a standard UK 2 tap hole basin and BSP pipework
  • High quality polished chrome plated finish on brass
  • Minimum pressure requirement is low pressure 0.2 BAR
  • Fitted with 1/4 turn ceramic disc technology for ease of use and durability

Very nice looking, high quality taps at a very reasonable price.

The taps are fine, but came with a big problem. Now that they are fitted, these taps are fine – they look nice and they work well enough. There is a large ‘however’ attached to this one though. When we were fitting them, we asked a plumber to come and do it as we didn’t have the right tools. He fitted the first one, and it was definitely wonky on the sink. He took it off again to adjust it, and found that the washer that they had supplied was too small for the (standard sized) hole in the sink, and much worse than that, it had already split clean through. He tried with the second tap, and exactly the same thing happened with the second washer. I know that he wasn’t forcing it or doing anything unusual to make that happen, i was there for the whole thing. In the end, we had to re-use the washers that had come off the old taps. They were wider, thicker and stronger, and in ten years of being fitted and refitted, they hadn’t even slightly marked, unlike the new ones which both failed on the first fitting.

  1. Great looking and reasonably good quality with plenty of weight to them. Fitted them about 6 weeks ago and no leaks. Ccomes with spare hot and cold replacement cartridges which is good. I did think they would operate by lifting the handles up, but actually the turn 90 degrees outwards to turn on. Took a couple of days to get into the habit of turning not lifting.

These taps amazed the plumber i asked to fit them. The spare valve was an added bonus.
      1. Does what it says on the tin. Each tap is marked either hot or cold. The hot tap tuns to the left; the cold tap turns to the right. Regarding fitting:this is a universal problem because sinks come with holes larger than the threaded base of taps. This mean that there is a lot of play in the position of the taps within the holes. The solution is to get two ordinary keyrings (one for each tap) that are slightly larger in diameter than the threaded base of the taps and slightly smaller in diameter than the holes in the sink. Then cut six, 3-inch strips of electrical tape (three per keyring) and wind them around each keyrings in three places. By doing this, you now have two makeshift o-rings that fit snugly over the threaded base of the taps and also fit snugly into the holes of the sink. These makeshift o-rings not only center the taps within the holes, but also hold the taps in position while you tighten them from below.

    1. Bought these to replace old taps. They match our shower mixer taps. Packaged well and quick delivery time.
